Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the team access locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight players to form the Seekers and Strategists tables.
Audiences can anticipate learning which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
